Three Things Thursday (on Friday!): December 9, 2016

christmas-breakWelcome back to Three Things Thursday, a way to fill your blogs and social media with the happy!

Three Things Thursday is a simple concept that everyone is encouraged to play along with. All it requires is listing three (or more!) things that are making your life awesome. Please note! The three things you choose each week do not need to be big, huge, mighty, impressive things. In fact, I think it’s much better to focus on smaller, sillier things…because focusing on those little bits of joy and the gigglesnorts that they bring…well, that’s where day-to-day contentment lives, I believe.

So, how do you participate? Easy as falling off a log! Whip up a blog post about three things that are making you smile…then share it on the link up in this post. Don’t want to do a whole blog post? Feel free to post some pictures on Facebook or Instagram! If you tag me in your pictures, I 100% promise to give them appropriate love. ❤

Just one more thing! Three Things Thursday posts actually don’t need to be done on Thursdays! I leave the link up active for the whole week every week…so you can be grateful on your own schedule. 🙂

Okay, here we goooooo…

Hello, my wonderful blog friends! I know us blogger types aren’t supposed to give explanations for being absent from the blog world, but I’m going to do it anyway…I’ve had some pretty serious technical difficulties for the past few days (most of them directly related to the blog), but things seem to be straightened out now. Yay! (I’ve been doing almost all of my interneting on my phone, and I detest doing most things from a phone screen, soooo…that leads to no blogging.)

Other than my technical difficulties, I’ve had a great week with tons to be grateful for, so let’s get this party started…

John and I went to our town’s Christmas Tree Lighting, and it mas magical! Everything was so perfectly “small town” and fantastic. 🙂 Our little town has a giant Christmas tree (check out the people standing next to it for an idea of scale)…watching it light up while sipping hot cocoa from a local coffee shop and listening to an elementary school chorus sing carols was just fantastic. 😀 And….hehehe….you may notice the “snow” swirling about in the picture. Well, this is southern North Carolina…it rarely snows here, and it certainly doesn’t snow in early December. It was 55 degrees when I took these pictures! But us southern folks love the idea of snow so much that we blow fake snow at Christmas events….and I love that. 😀

Speaking of the tree lighting event, there was a lot more going on than just a tree! There were also tractor rides and “train” rides and a carousel and all sorts of organizations raising money by selling desserts…and a small petting zoo. And at that petting zoo, I met this cow:

She is amazing! I would have loved to just bring her home with me, but John pointed out some issues about her fitting into our little car. *sigh*

On Tuesday, John and I celebrated our 12th anniversary, so, of course, cupcakes had to be consumed! I’m grateful for the delicious cupcakes, but I’m way, way, way more grateful for such a wonderful husband who is just full of kindness and humor and intelligence and awesome. (And he’s pretty dang cute, too!) 😀

And a bonus thing!

Grace had an “early release” day on Wednesday…which means she got out of school three hours early. Well, Grace and I have a standard plan for early release days…coffee shops and thrift stores. While at a new (to us) thrift store, I spotted this fantastic vintage tea set. (Along with the matching plates and bowls and saucers…and some other stuff.) It caught my eye right away, but I figured I wouldn’t want to pay whatever the total cost would be for all of those pieces…until I flipped a piece over to check the price and discovered that they were only 35 cents! Needless to say, that set came home with me! 😀 I’ve never had actual china before, so I’m feeling very fancy. 😉 I looked up the company and pattern number and learned that the pattern stopped being produced in 1963, so we know it’s at least 50 years old. Neat!

That tree is awesomely huge and magnificent! Regardless of this not being a season I look forward to, I still appreciate the time and energy required to make something so awesome as that tree!

Happy 12 Year Anniversary to you and John, that’s wonderful!

That is a giant tree! Our town’s is much smaller but still lovely. 🙂 Some days I’d be happy with fake snow though…it was 22 degrees this morning, brrrrr!

Thank you for the anniversary wishes! 😀

I’m not really certain why our town has chosen to create such an enormous tree, but I kind of love it. 🙂 Smaller trees are fabulous, too…I pretty much just love any Christmas tree.

22 is entirely too cold for humans to continue to human. It’s just not reasonable. 😉 (Of course, we have a low of 21 predicted for tonight…yick. If it’s going to be that cold, there should definitely be snow to go with it.)

Maybe I could fit that cow in the back of my Suburban. I’ve always wanted a cow. They are just too sweet. You do have busy weekends. The cupcakes look scrumptious. I love all the lights on the tree. Lights are my favorite part of Christmas. Tea sets always make us feel special. Great find. Have a wonderfilled week ahead.
